...is a big deal to us

Sea Ray’s custom gel-coat finishes provide superior UV protection and a long-lasting high gloss that won’t fade or dull out. Our FANUC P-200 robots use lasers to guide them, then spray precisely the right consistency over every part of the surface. Less-exacting methods can result in coatings that are too thick and will crack, or too thin and don’t cover the part.
For more than five years Sea Ray has been using Multiple Insert Technology to create fiberglass parts, from deck hatches to hulls. We now produce more than 40,000 closed molded parts per year. It’s a precise molding technique that ensures that the exact amount of resin is injected each time to each side of the part, resulting in a two-sided finished surface. If you make a better part, you make a better boat.

We could make a boat the way other boatbuilders do, but we never will. Our standards demand a higher level of precision. That’s why we’ve invested in the latest technology, which allows us to produce a boat that is stronger, safer and more reliable. Our laser-guided FANUC P-200 robots apply uniform gel-coats of precisely the right consistency and thickness to the hull and deck. Sea Ray’s exclusive Multiple Insert Technology resin-transfer process produces consistently exact boat components, including thousands of Sport Boat hulls annually. Our robots achieve perfect fit and finish with every cut they make, and our RealData quality-control process allows us to thoroughly inspect and track every part. You may not remember precisely how we build a boat, but you’ll never forget the confidence it gives you on the water.

Instead of using paper patterns and electric scissors to cut fabrics, Sea Ray insists on the precision of a computer-driven three-axis fabric cutter. This versatile tool can cut through five layers of fabric, vinyl or laminate to produce materials that fit into each boat perfectly. And by storing accurate patterns on disk, we can provide exact replacement parts for years to come.

Our robots allow us to cut parts as big as 37 feet long and 12 feet wide to an accuracy of 1/60,000 of an inch. We are the only manufacturer to use robots to cut parts this big. And that’s what makes the fit and finish of a Sea Ray stand out from everything else on the water.
